Race favourite, Rabiya broke down during the running of the Gr1 Durban July in Greyville,. He broke his offside hind leg and was pulled up immediately and had to be euthanased. This very same race also claimed another top class 3 year old colt, Dunsinane (SAF), who also appears on this memorial.

Farewell To A Champion Dunsinane.
It is with much sadness that we report the death of our champion Dunsinane. Dunsinane sustained massive injuries during the running of the 2005 Vodacom Durban in July and was immediately rushed off to Littlefields Veterinary Clinic for a thorough assessment. It was determined that his sesamoid bone had been completely shattered and that he had sustained extensive damage to the suspensory ligaments in the same leg. Despite all efforts to save his life with the hope of at least retiring him as reward for all he had achieved, we were advised by his veterinary surgeon that in his case euthenasia was the most humane decision as his quality of life was deteriorating daily and the prognosis for recovery was extremely bleak. We would like to thank Dr John McVeigh and all his staff at Littlefields Veterinary Clinic who attended to him and made his last days as comfortable as possible. Also thank you to our trainer Geoff Woodruff and all his staff for their input into his short but extremely successful career.
Farewell Dunsinane, you will be sorely missed!
